These old farms, laid out along the valley floor, were built according to logic dictated by the weather conditions, with heavy rainfall (over 2000 mm of water / year), considerable levels of snow, very harsh winters (low temperatures and frost) and strong winds. These farms had to be appropriately built to provide, on the one hand, a certain level of comfort for the inhabitants, and on the other, to be able to withstand the bad weather.
The architecture of these farmhouses has undergone a change that must be touched on. Between the no-storey house with its slightly sloping roof and the most imposing storied farmhouse, a great deal of time has passed. Not to mention the technological innovations that have enabled improvements to the comfort, the resistance to the bad weather and a better protection of property against fire. We could then speak of the use of shingles, of the appearance of hips, sturdy lofts, adjoining ovens, etc.
