The cultural heritage of the Valley de la Valserine, and in particular the Monts Jura, as far as what has been preserved is concerned, is directly linked to the daily life of the local population.
 Today the only things that remain intact are the old traditional farmhouses and the former summer pasture chalets. Some traditional activities have lived on up until now, notably cheese making (Comté, Bleu de Gex) and the work of cutting precious stones (Lapidary). However, there are plenty of traces of the past. These are important aids for finding out about the eventful history of the region .

We can expand on this subject using five themes :

  1. Architecture of traditional farmhouses and life in the past
  2. Pastoral life in the mountains from the very beginning to the present day
  3. Set up of cheese dairies locally known  as "Fruitières"  and their development
  4. The lapidary's work
  5. Traces of the past (Spaniards' path, the boundary stones , Chésery Abbey and its influence in the area )

 These themes can be developed in two ways:

  • visits ;
  • A theme-based guided hike - Discovering the heritage .
